On this day in the year 2000, between 200,000 to 1 million people gather in Washington, D.C., for a three-day demonstration of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender unity, calling for an end to job discrimination, more support for hate-crimes legislation, and increased awareness of LGBT issues. The event is sponsored by large corporations, and includes a concert featuring popular musical artists, and speeches by celebrities and politicians.
